Dashboard Overview

Dashboards

Dashboards are a visual way to represent data stored in a data collection. Given below is an example of a dashboard using data stored in “Enrolments” marked in red in the navigation.

Dashboards allow you to analyse your data faster, with a visual representation allowing you to communicate with a wider audience, especially when compared to the tabular structure presented in the data table.

Dashboard Filters

Dashboard filters are the same filters which can be applied in the data table view. Only those filters which have been configured for a data collection will be available to be applied to its corresponding dashboard. In the image below, you can see that the dashboard can be filtered by “Occupational Fields”, “School” and “Province”. Please keep in mind that if you apply a filter to a dashboard the filter remains active when you switch over to the data table view.

For e.g. If you want to filter the dashboard according to “Occupational Fields”, you need to first click on the filter button located besides the “Add Submission” button. Then, for the corresponding filter, in this case “Occupation Fields”, from the drop-down menu you need to select the value you are interested in filtering the data by, say “Agriculture”. Once the value is selected, click on apply, and the data in the dashboard is filtered according to this value.

Comparing the images inserted above and below, you can see that the dashboard widgets and the numbers and charts displayed in them have been adjusted according to the selected filter, with the filtered dashboard given below only displaying data that is related to the occupational field “Agriculture”.

You can see the active filters for the dashboard on the top left. The filter can be reset by either clicking on the “x” next to the filter or by clicking on the reset button in the filter menu.
