Creating a Data Collection

On this page, you will find instructions on how to create a new data collection.

A data collection is used to create either a value list, structure list or a data pot. For detailed description about the functional differences see the section Data Management.

To create a new data collection for your project,

  1. access the Data Collections via the navigation bar and

  2. click on the Add Data Collection button.

  3. Fill out the information in the dialog window New Data Collection. See the table below for explanations for all the needed information.

  4. Click Create.

  5. After successfully creating the data collection, you are directed to the screen to add questions to the data collection Template.

Add new data collection to navigation

By using the “Add to Navigation” toggle, you can add your new data collection directly to the navigation. You can drag and drop the new item to its correct place in the tree structure that will open to the right side of the window,


To organise your data collections, you can add new categories in the Categories tab of Data Collections, following the instructions here.









Name (mandatory)

Name of the data collection


Code (mandatory)

Reference code for the data collection. Three capital letters are ideal


Unit (mandatory)

Dropdown of all available units for a data collection which is used for configurating Permission Profiles


Category (mandatory)

Dropdown of all available categories for the data collection



Choose either to create a new, use a shared or copy an existing data collection template.
